This 1-hour seminar features excerpts of music sold in our on-site store.  “Hear It Played” will also be featured in ½ hour segments Tuesday through Thursday during the day and at the Jam Session on Wednesday night.

   
Sound Effects on the Harp (Hands On) Elizabeth Richter

Ever get frustrated at all those symbols for sound effects?  And each language varies the names!  Salzedo developed how many? Elizabeth will take you through the gamut of sound effect symbols (some you’ve never seen or heard) and demonstrate how they are performed.  At your harp, you will have the opportunity to perform them as well.

Effortless Glissing and Modulations (Hands On) Jan Jennigns

Using information from her book “Effortless Glissing,” Jan will demonstrate pedal and lever patterns for a variety of glisses.  Modulating is going from one key to another to make a piece of music more interesting.  You will be shown how to do this smoothly.
   
Jam Session (Hands On) Area Professional
6:30 PM Room 58 or Lobby
Anyone who wants to bring their harp and play along, may do so.  Lever harps and pedal harps alike.  Led by an area professional harpist, we have fun.  No one counts mistakes in this session!

Performing Historical Music on the Harp (Hands On) Becky Baxter

Becky will be sharing her passion for the medieval, renaissance and baroque music played on period instruments.  We will explore repertoire, notation, tablature, intabulation of dance and vocal music into harp solos, and learn how to play in a historically informed manner even when a period instrument or replica of a historical harp is not available.  Uncover the illusive deep roots of ancient harp literature before pedal and levers were invented.
